Trunk Pipeline

Laying of trunk pipeline with a design capacity of 16 MMSCMD of about 746 kms for transporting gas from Dhabol to Bangalore was taken up and completed by GAIL. Pipeline covers nine districts in Karnataka viz., Belgaum, Gadag, Dharwad, Bellary, Davangere, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Bangalore and Ramanagar. KSIIDC continues its role as the nodal agency with respect to Natural Gas Pipeline of GAIL in the state. The pipeline was commissioned on 18.02.2013 as shown below:


City Gas Distribution

GAIL Gas Limited has been the successful bidder in the tender called by Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) for provision of CGD in the Bangalore Region. Detailed figure shown below.

CGD networks cater to the requirement of natural gas for homes, CNG for vehicles and fuel for commercial/industrial within the cities.

  • GAIL GAS Limited has won the CGD project – Bangalore region : Covers Bangalore Urban & Rural districts – 4395 Sq Kms
  • Initial 5 Years target : 1583 inch-km; 1.32 lakhs PNG connections; Est. Cost – Rs.749 Crores
  • Progress as an : 699 kms pipeline laid; 28500 PNG connections completed (Gas is being supplied to 3500 houses); CNG station at Prem Nagar (Beggar’s colony) is within commercial operational.
  • Gas is being supplied to BEL, Jindal colony, HSR layout, Yeshwanthpur, Singsandra and Belandur.

KSIIDC is designated as the state Government’s agency for establishing a Joint Venture Company (JVC) with GAIL / Gail Gas Limited, having an authorized share capital of Rs.100 Crores. GAIL / Gail Gas Limited to hold 26% of equity in the Company, while KSIIDC to have 24% with the balance 50% of equity to be offered to financial institutions, investors and strategic partners (no single investor amongst the strategic partner of financial institutions, along its affiliate, to be allowed to hold more than 20% of equity in the JVC).
